Oracle today announced the worldwide availability of Oracle® Application Server Standard Edition One, a full-featured, easy to use middleware solution priced and packaged for the mid-market.
Part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware family of products, Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One is a comprehensive standards-based solution designed specifically to meet the unique needs of small to mid-size businesses and departmental users. Priced to address the requirements of these organizations, it provides a pre-integrated Web Server and Web site development tools, Java development tools and an out-of-the-box Instant Portal.
Using Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One, customers can build Internet Web Sites using popular Web Scripting languages such as PHP, PERL and Java Server Pages (JSP). They can also build e-Commerce applications to grow their businesses on the Internet using a Java development tool that supports industry standards such as JSP, Servlets and Enterprise Java Beans. Finally, the Instant Portal enables users to publish content and share documents securely with colleagues, customers and partners without requiring professional developers. Oracle Application Standard Edition One addresses the needs of companies who want to start small, but also be adequately prepared for future grown in Oracle and non-Oracle technology environments.

Our data shows that 39 percent of small and medium sites surveyed intend to increase their investment in application servers during 2005 and /or 2006(1),” said Stephen D. Availability and Pricing
Recently awarded VARBusiness magazine’s “Top 100 Midmarket Solutions” award, Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One is available direct from Oracle and will be available through value added resellers, value added distributors and will be supported by independent software vendors. At $4,995 per processor (for a single server, up to two processors), Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One is half the price of Oracle Application Server Standard Edition. Along with per-processor pricing, the package is also available with Named User Plus licensing at $149 per user with a minimum of five users.
