Untangle, a security software and appliance company, today announced that its Internet Content (IC) Control product was selected for an eSchool News Readers Choice Award honoring the Best Products in Educational Technology.

IC Control helps network administrators diagnose and resolve Internet traffic problems such as bottlenecks, over-saturation of recreational traffic, application performance, optimization of hosted and cloud services, and prioritization of critical traffic—ensuring network performance, reliability and stability.

eSchool News, a publisher of K-12 ed-tech news and information, received nominations from more than 1,300 educators and administrators from K-12 schools and districts across North America for their favorite ed-tech products or services this past spring; to maintain the integrity of the program, nominations from vendors were not accepted.

The result "is a list of ed-tech products and services that have proven to be effective," said Editorial Director Dennis Pierce. "We hope readers will find this information valuable as they consider what technologies they should use in their own schools."

"We're really pleased that IC Control was one of only 50 products selected for eSchool News Readers Choice Award," said Bob Walters, CEO of Untangle. "Network administrators at schools need insight into what data is flowing over their network at any given moment. IC Control's real-time, rich data reporting gives them an unprecedented view of layer 7 traffic, and allows them to set web content management policies that make sense for their students, staff and teachers. This is particularly important when it comes to achieving CIPA compliance."

IC Control is available to customers on network appliances and offers a single-interface, turnkey Internet management solution that includes network monitoring, Internet traffic analytics, bandwidth management and traffic shaping, application prioritization, cloud optimization and web filtering. It is a highly scalable solution appropriate for large organizations in all vertical markets with bandwidth up to 10 Gbps.

The winners and honorable mentions are recognized in a special feature published in the August 2014 edition of eSchool News, as well as online at eSchoolNews.com. This special feature highlights the winning products and services and includes comments from readers about why each entry deserves the award.
