Microsoft has now opened up their My Phone service to anyone who owns a Windows Mobile powered smartphone.

This service was launched in February as an invite only product.

Microsoft My Phone is compatible with most smartphones powered by Windows Mobile 6 OS.

It works as a backup service for mobile devices and the data can be restored in case a mobile phone is lost or damaged.

The service itself is free but the users might be required to pay for data transfer charges on the mobile networks.

It enables the user to store photos, videos, documents, contacts, music, calendar appointments and even text messages.

Users get 200MB of free storage.
