Yahoo! Canada announced a major redesign of
its music site, giving Canadians access to top music videos, streaming radio,
concerts, music news, blogs, and now lyrics. With a catalogue of more than
17,000 music videos, nearly 100 streaming radio stations, and lyrics to tens
of thousands of songs, Canadians can now get even more of what they want from
their online music experience.

The new site builds upon the Yahoo! Music core experience with new
features including:

– Redesigned home page showcasing the best on-demand music videos,
themed radio and video stations, and exclusive artist features.

– Personalized music video recommendations to introduce Yahoo! users to
new music based on their ratings, tastes and interests.

– Embedded music video player for friction-free music consumption,
enabling users to post their favourite videos on their personal web
pages and blogs.

– Drag and drop video playlisting tools that make it possible for users
to easily create and store their favourite videos within Yahoo!
Music.

– Exclusive Canadian programs like Highway One, devoted to showcasing
music from mainstream and independent Canadian artists such as
Hedley, Kathleen Edwards, Sam Roberts, Alex Cuba, Kardinal Offishall
and more.

– Canada’s first legal online lyrics channel for discovering thousands
of song lyrics through Gracenote’s Lyrics Program.

– Music blogs that showcase some of the best music writers from across
Canada and the world.

– Personalized concert listings via upcoming.org, a concert wiki that
enables users to upload and view show listings based on their
geographic location.

With every new feature Yahoo! Music continues to focus on building the
most personalized music experience for its users. Fans of all genres and
generations – from Mainstream Pop and Modern Country, to Indie Rock and
Hip-Hop, to the best Canadian talent from the present and past – can create
the music experience that best suits them.

“When it comes to music, everything is personal,” says Andy West, Yahoo!
Music Canada’s Senior Manager. “Yahoo! Music gives Canadians instant access to
their favourite artists, and is the best way to experience music they’ve yet
to discover. We want Canadians to chart their own musical path – by ensuring
Yahoo! Music continues to be the best online starting point for music lovers,
we hope to continue to be a part of their journey.”

FoxyTunes Opens Windows to a World of Music

Yahoo! Music Canada also announced today the addition of FoxyTunes to its
new set of features. FoxyTunes – a media toolbar plug-in for either Firefox or
Internet Explorer – enables users to control their music media experience
right from their browser. Not only can users control their listening
experience without leaving their browser window, they can jump from a track
playing in any supported media player to lyrics, biographies, videos, or more
music in a single click. To learn more about FoxyTunes visit

“The new Yahoo! Music represents a better way to bring artists to the
small screen – the desktops and laptops where Canadians are spending more time
listening to and watching artists than ever before,” says Kerry Munro, General
Manager, Yahoo! Canada. “By offering new content and industry-leading
functionality, we look forward to growing our user base of music fans and
continuing to be the advertising partner of choice.”
