Sierra Wireless today announced that Fujitsu Siemens Computers has selected the Sierra Wireless MC8755 PCI Express Mini Card modules to provide integrated HSDPA/UMTS network connectivity to specific models in its LIFEBOOK Professional Notebook Series, simplifying access to online information and corporate applications for mobile professionals. The AirCard Enabled LIFEBOOK notebooks from Fujitsu Siemens Computers will be available to mobile professionals in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa as of Q2, 2006.

Sierra Wireless Mini Card embedded modules are designed for integration into notebook computers and other mobile computing devices, offering mobile professionals convenient, built-in access to online information and applications at broadband speeds, allowing them to work productively without spending valuable time searching for hotspots.

MC8755 PCI Express Mini Card for HSDPA/UMTS networks
The MC8755 PCI Express Mini Card module is built using the MSM6275(TM) Mobile Station Modem(TM) chipset from QUALCOMM and offers peak download speeds of 1.8 Mbps. The MC8755 operates on the 2100 MHz HSDPA UMTS frequency band and is designed for markets in Europe and Asia. MC8755 modules are also compatible with EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks on all four GSM frequency bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz), for global roaming in areas where an HSDPA or UMTS network is not available.
